Q: Do yarn donations have to be in a particular state? Mine are more or less wound by hand into balls.
A: Hand wound into balls sounds wonderful. The charities at WWKiP Toronto Edition will be grateful for whatever you have, wound or not. Sistering and StreetKnit are happy with small amounts. They are very inventive at using up every scrap of yarn.
Sistering is using the yarn to weave place mats – novelty yarns work well as accents. Synthetics are great for making easy-care objects.
Demos to sharpen your skills
You are encouraged to follow along – yarn and straight needles will be on hand thanks to Romni Wools. For Judy’s magic cast on bring circular needles, and crochet hook for crochet basics.

What’s in a name? It may be called world wide KNIT in public day, but ALL fibre arts are welcome!
Spinners, weavers, crocheters, felters, come join us!
Demonstrations are lined up that don’t only focus on knitting – crochet, spinning and weaving are also on the roster.
We encourage one and all to wear some of your handiwork to the event. It’s always fantastic to see what people are making.
This by no means suggests we think wool sweaters will be necessary … we’re all hoping for a glorious summer day!
